Timex continues to mine gold from its legacy designs with a new collab, the Huckberry x Timex "Cola" Sport Watch — Limited Edition. While it has clearly been inspired by the Connecticut-based watchmaker's retro Q watches, which resurrected designs from the 1970s and 80s, this new quartz model with a Coca-Cola color scheme is an original.

Huckberry describes how they approached designing the "Cola" by drawing "on styles from the 70s and 80s and went with a military-inspired ‘crosshair’ dial with polished and faceted 6, 9, and 12 markers."

The Huckberry x Timex "Cola" sports the elegant Q-style stainless steel bracelet and a "functional aluminum timing bezel" as well.

Here are selected specs from the Huckberry listing for the watch:

 • Function: Time, day, and date
 • Movement: Seiko PC33 quartz
 • Crystal: Acrylic domed crystal
 • Stap: Stainless steel
 • INDIGLO® lume on minute and hour hands
 • Case: Stainless steel
 • Strap: Stainless steel
 • Crystal: Acrylic domed crystal

With the Seiko-made quartz movement, it promises to be a reliable, easy-to-maintain timepiece, and one that has the distinct advantage of going with just about anything, from sweats to a suit.

This limited edition Huckberry x Timex "Cola" Sport Watch retails for $189. Find out more at huckberry.com.

No Time to Die may make an at-home premiere as part of a massive $600 million streaming deal. The 25th James Bond movie and last to star Daniel Craig as the titular superspy was originally scheduled for a theatrical release in April 2020, but the coronavirus crisis ultimately pushed back the release to April 2021.

Citing "multiple insiders and rival studios and companies," Variety reports that Netflix and Apple both considered purchasing the surefire blockbuster for the steep nine-figure sum, but couldn't finalize a deal.

“We do not comment on rumors. The film is not for sale. The film’s release has been postponed until April 2021 in order to preserve the theatrical experience for moviegoers,” an MGM spokesperson told Variety.

It's also unclear if producer Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who partially control the Bond franchise through Eon Productions, would sign off on the blockbuster streaming deal.

Sources also said that MGM is already out between $30 and $50 million because of the delays, not including the movie's $250 million cost of production. Meanwhile, other companies have already banked major sums by securing deals with streaming services while theaters remain closed during the pandemic.

Amazon Prime recently bought the steaming rights for the December release of Eddie Murphy's Coming 2 America from Paramount for a whopping $125 million.

But as of now, No Time to Die is still scheduled to open in American theaters on April 2, 2021. Stay tuned.

<![CDATA[Netflix Drops Epic Trailer For George Clooney Sci-Fi Drama 'The Midnight Sky']]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/netflix-drops-trailer-clooney-sci-fi-the-midnight-skyhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/netflix-drops-trailer-clooney-sci-fi-the-midnight-skyTue, 27 Oct 2020 14:46:45 GMT

The Midnight Sky, as far as one can tell from the trailer above, is about what happens after the world ends and it's just George Clooney and some kid in the arctic, warning spaceships away.

In a time of global pandemic, post-apocalyptic movies might hit a tender spot, though this one was completed prior to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

George Clooney in "The Midnight Sky."

Here's a synopsis of the movie from Netflix:

This post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

Clooney directs the adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight, co-starring David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Tiffany Boone.

There are moments in the trailer that are reminiscent of another previous Clooney film about space disasters, Gravity, starring the actor and Sandra Bullock. Midnight Sky, however, is more apocalyptic (an apocalypse which Clooney's character says "started with a mistake"), and perhaps darker.

The movie is based on the novel, Good Morning, Midnight and it seems clear that Clooney as an actor and director has an affinity for dreamy, weird science fiction. Just in this trailer alone, there are snatches of moments that also recall his Solaris, about a psychiatrist investigating otherworldly weirdness on a remote space station.

The Midnight Sky premieres on Netflix in the U.S. on December 23, 2020.

Forty extremely lucky buyers are about to join one of the most exclusive automotive clubs in the world, paying $3.5 million apiece for the privilege of owning Lamborghini’s first-ever track-only production supercar—the Essenza SCV12, which is also the most powerful Lamborghini ever built.

With a V12 engine capable of producing over 830 horsepower, it was developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the company’s racing division, and designed from the ground up by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile in-house studio.

While the Essenza SCV12 isn’t street legal, customers will have plenty to keep them occupied. The car comes with its own racing program at the most prestigious FIA racetracks around the world, and also includes storage service in a new hangar at Lamborghini’s legendary headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, solely dedicated to the Essenza SCV12 Club.

Each car will have its own personalized garage while the facility will also house the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Driver’s Lab, offering athletic training programs similar to those used by Lamborghini’s official racing drivers.

The design of the car pays homage to iconic prototypes such as the Miura Jota and Diablo GTR, and though the result is unmistakably Lamborghini, it’s unlike anything the marque has produced so far. The very first Essenza SCV12 was photographed exclusively for Maxim at the Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan, a “valuable example of industrial archaeology, a place born to produce mechanical objects that is now an artistic space that hosts contemporary masterpieces” like Lamborghini’s latest hypercar.

We spoke with Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer about the eye-popping Essenza. Read on.

What is the key to the success of the Essenza’s design?

Our Centro Stile department worked together with engineering and integrated with the aerodynamics team in order to design a pure Lamborghini, but also one that takes into account the premises of aerodynamics that are fundamental when you need to steer this amount of horsepower…. The designers were able to perfectly incorporate aerodynamics and create an aesthetical feature in every single detail. [And] they were able to avoid making any compromises in order to guarantee the perfect balance of the car.

Have Lamborghini clients been asking for a multimillion-dollar track-only hypercar?

If you are Lamborghini, you cannot wait until the customer asks for something. Lamborghini must be a provocateur. I think it’s important to constantly have new ideas, new business plans and products. This project gave us the freedom to invent and to propose something truly unique. And based on this, you can then decide and define the price. It’s not important for it to be street legal; what’s fundamental is the kind of environment you offer together with the car, what kind of engagement the car can offer our customers, who then become part of a special club.

Will the Essenza SCV12 ever get the chance to compete against other track cars like the Ferrari FXX-K Evo and the McLaren Senna GTR?

The target of the Essenza SCV12 is not to compete with other cars, but rather to live in a special place where the members of this exclusive Lamborghini club can converse and evaluate the various ways to use and treat the car. And this is exactly what we will offer to our SCV12 customers. If a customer then wants to go and have fun racing with a friend, they are entitled to that freedom; however, Squadra Corse will not organize races against other brands.

Is this the swan song for Lamborghini’s legendary V12 engine?

The V12 will have a long life in the future. Our brand was born with a V12 engine. The success of the Aventador today was made with the V12, and its eventual replacement will incorporate a V12 engine. It’s clear we need to support the V12 in terms of electrification in the future, but the sound responsiveness and combination of torque and power of the V12 will remain a part of our DNA. This means you will continue to see the V12 in Lamborghini’s pinnacle cars. For example, all of our one-off and limited-edition vehicles, like the Sían, Centenario, Veneno, and our entire heritage, are based on the V12. It is the crown of our product lineup and remains our masterpiece in terms of engineering. Our most extreme cars will always be built around the V12.

Presented by Fish House Live

On October 16, Taste Network hosted the fourth edition of Fish House Live; a live-streaming culinary competition on Maxim’s Facebook Live. The event showcased four badass competitors in an epic head-to-head challenge at The Pantry & Provisions in Atlanta, Georgia. Celebrity chefs from Puerto Rico and Mexico City cooked for six notable judges, while two notable barkeeps prepared Fish House Punch with Buffalo Trace and Wheatley Vodka. Music was provided by the world famous DJ Lord of Pubic Enemy.

Chef Hector Santiago of El Super Pan won the food competition and prizes, including the “Golden Fish” trophy and a stunning Walnut Cucina Elegante “Fish Cart” from John Boos Co. A culinary highlight of the night voyage was Chef Hector’s Poke Tako with Fluke, Kaffir Lime Rice and Chipotle Soy Salmon Roe alongside Leche de Tigre. His preparations included Razor Clams from Red’s Best with chopped kimchi, jalapenos and furikake cured egg yolk and his finale dish of Tlayuda Marina with hoja santa wrapped Kvaroy Arctic Salmon, tatemados and fish mushrooms.

Winning barkeep Brennan Adams of Blended Family Spirits prepared his take on the Philadelphia Resurgens Fish House Punch, a classic concoction made with Buffalo Trace Bourbon spiked with tea and peach liqueur. Fish House Punch could be the oldest surviving colonial American beverage, having first been referenced in 1744 and possibly invented two decades earlier.

See Brennan’s full punch recipe below:

Brennan’s Resurgens Fish House Punch

 • 24 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon
 • 12 oz Blended Family Peach Liqueur
 • 8 oz lapsang souchong tea syrup (see below)
 • 6 oz lemon juice
 • 1 oz angostura bitters
 • Ice block
 • Garnish with black cardamom pods, rosemary sprigs, bay leaves, lemon peel

Make Lapsang Souchong Tea Syrup

Boil 2 qts of water and steep 2 oz of lapsang tea leaves, 6 black cardamom pods and 6 bay leaves for 30 minutes before straining. Dissolve 1 qt of sugar in hot water and let cool.

Each gastro-competition features chefs and barkeeps who present their creations to a panel of six judges and thousands of online viewers. This event's venerated panel included Scott Mayer of Blended Family Spirits, DJ Lord of Public Enemy, Heather Craig founder of Punch Kings, Chef Michael McGarry, Seth Beisher and Brady Lowe of Taste Network.

The event aimed to inform attendees and viewers of important categories of sustainable fish including Bycatch, the Wild Big Blue, Line-Caught, Farmed and Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) while inspiring discussion, education and consumption of responsible seafood.

Tune in to the next episode airing Friday November 6 at 7:45pm EST featuring Chef Xavier Torres of Bae Korean Grill (Miami) against Chef Shaun Brian of the forthcoming Coda Co. Seafood Market (Charleston). Both chefs are dedicated to supporting sustainable fisheries and local farmers.

Fish House is the nation’s first responsible aquaculture food and beverage competition. The original Fish House was established in 1732. Today it remains America’s first fishing cooperative in the 13 colonies. Honorary members included no less than George Washington, who was said to be a frequent visitor. Fish House pays homage to the old world when life was simpler and food was cleaner.

While everyone is spending more time at home, it is a perfect time to enjoy one of the eight live streaming competitions catering to the 30-40-something crowd that follow food and beverage influencers, enjoys historic cocktails, rare wines, plant-based creators and sustainable seafood. Together, we embrace this time to cook and drink at home with truly one of a kind of experiences.

Fish House will be broadcast twice a month to Maxim’s 3 million Facebook followers and 250,000-strong combined audiences through our chefs, barkeeps and world-class musicians. Sizzle reels and videos can be found on www.fishhouse.live.

An ultra-thin Acer laptop with a brand new processor is the latest product to get a racy makeover by Porsche's lifestyle branch.

Following the German marque's recent collab with Puma is the Porsche Design Acer Book RS. We aren't exactly sure what the Racing Sport moniker is supposed to denote in this context, but the liberal use of black carbon fiber for the unibody-hinged cover is definitely borrowed from the auto industry, where the high-strength, low-weight material is widely used in the bodies of sports cars. Even when paired with a diamond-cut, CNC-machined chassis, the entire unit clocks in at 2.76 pounds and .63 inches thick.

Porsche Design's other major contribution to the project is a luxe "Travelpack" consisting of a Ecco Palermo XA leather travel pouch, a notebook sleeve fashioned from water repellant 1680D fabric that doubles as a mousepad, and a carbon fiber-clad, Bluetooth-enabled mouse.

In terms of hardware, the laptop is specced similarly to the Acer Swift 5, which is one of the tech industry's first to get the premium looks and performance of Intel Evo. The new platform is built around the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics and a NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU with 16 GB of RAM.

Other key features include a 14-inch touchscreen covered with a layer of antimicrobial glass, dual copper heat pipes for cooling, a 17-hour battery with 30-minute fast-charging capability, an embedded fingerprint scanner, and an array of ports (USB-C, Thunderbolt 4 and USB3.2 Gen 2).

The Porsche Design Acer Book RS is available to pre-order online now for a whopping $2,450, with the first deliveries going out in mid-December. The Acer Swift 5 will cost $999 when it arrives in November.

<![CDATA[Cam Newton Responds to Former NFL QB Jeff Garcia's Criticism of Fancy Game Day Outfits]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=sports/cam-newton-responds-to-jeff-garcias-criticism-of-gameday-clotheshttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=sports/cam-newton-responds-to-jeff-garcias-criticism-of-gameday-clothesMon, 26 Oct 2020 18:02:13 GMT

Cam Newton's dapper game day attire came under fire from former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia, who thinks that the struggling New England Patriots QB shouldn't be drawing unnecessary attention to himself.

View the original article to see embedded media.

The Patriots' record fell to 2-4 with a disastrous 6-36 showing against the 49ers on Sunday. Garcia reacted with a rant about the contrast between Newton's attire and performance in a video that was posted and then deleted by the official 49ers on NBCS Twitter account.

“You go into this game, two touchdowns and four interceptions (on the season)," Garcia said. "You throw, what, three more interceptions? You get yanked in the second half. There is nothing good going your way. Why are you dressing like that to bring more attention to yourself?”

That "yanking" was a reference to the fact that Newton, a former MVP, was benched for backup Jarrett Stidham in the fourth quarter after managing just nine completions for 95 yards and throwing three interceptions, Sports Illustrated reports

“I’d be trying to ask the equipment managers: Put me in your jock sock cart and sneak me in the back door and I’ll show up on the field and do the best that I can,” Garcia added. "This just goes back to a couple years of just watching this guy and seeing him at the podium, but yet what he’s doing on the field does not translate to being that guy.”

As Bro Bible notes, Newton responded respectfully to Garcia's comments appearance on the Greg Hill show

"I agree with him and the fact that he’s a former player, he has every right to say that…but that’s another opinionated theory and it’s fair to say," Newton said. "I know I come off to so many different people, so many different ways and that’s fine and he’s exactly right. but I’m not changing the way I dress."

While Newton won't be relinquishing his stylish three-piece suits and designer hats, he's obviously committed to putting his teammates in a position to make plays. When asked what went wrong at the Patriots' latest post-game presser, he took all responsibility for the loss.

"I wasn't good enough. In no way shape or form did I put this team in a position to compete, and that's inexcusable. This is the National Football League, where a lot is put on a quarterback, and I have to deliver. I haven't done that." Watch the full clip above.

<![CDATA[Brabus Transforms Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Into 900-HP 'Rocket 900']]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/brabus-rocket-900-mercedes-amg-gt-63-shttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/brabus-rocket-900-mercedes-amg-gt-63-sMon, 26 Oct 2020 16:34:39 GMT

German car customizer Brabus turned the Nurburgring lap record-setting Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S into a "Rocket" that'll turn the heads and perk the ears of even the most discerning automotive aficionados.

The so-called Rocket 900's output has been increased substantially to 900 horses at 6,200 rpm and 922 pound-feet of torque at 2,900 rpm. The power is sent to all four wheels via AMG's SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed sports transmission, which can be shifted automatically or manually with Brabus aluminum paddle shifters. The already exceptionally quick stock sedan delves into the sub-three territory, with a 2.8-second zero-to-62 mph time and electronically limited top speed of 205 mph.

These figures are achieved through serious modification of the GT 63 S's V8, which Brabus has covered with branded carbon fiber panels. Displacement is increased from 4.0 to 4.5 liters because, as Brabus states, there's no substitute for displacement other than more displacement. The stock turbochargers have been swapped for Brabus' own, which boast larger compressor units to achieve higher boost pressures.

An integrated carbon ram-air intake system that flanks the radiator grille feeds the engine more air, while its fuel supply is increased with high-pressure pumps. Brabus also installed a high-performance stainless steel exhaust created specifically for the GT configuration to reduce back pressure. Drivers can also set the electronically-articulated exhaust flaps to deliver an especially boisterous note in race and performance modes, or dampen sound with a subtle "Coming Home" setting.

The exterior also gets an exclusive overhaul. A widebody kit consisting of carbon giber and Kevlar fender flares adds 3.1 inches of width. A front spoiler was shaped to reduce axle lift, and the multi-piece rear wing and diffuser were designed in a wind tunnel to further improve aerodynamics.

Especially grippy Pirelli tires are wrapped around extra-large versions of the BRABUS Monoblock Z ten-spoke alloy rims, which are covered with more carbon fiber. Rounding out the package is a BRABUS AIRMATIC SPORT Unit lowers the ride height by about an inch in tamer drive modes.

Brabus is only selling 10 examples of the Rocket 900 for $516,000 each. Click here to learn more or get your name on the shortlist.

<![CDATA[Mike Tyson Makes EDM Debut With Banger Single, 'I'm Mike Tyson!']]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/mike-tyson-edm-debut-im-mike-tysonhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/mike-tyson-edm-debut-im-mike-tysonMon, 26 Oct 2020 15:17:40 GMT

If you heard that a 54-year-old man was dropping his first-ever EDM single, you might be forgiven for finding the idea kind of absurd. Unless that is, the man in question is former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson.

That's what the animated video above is all about. He's Mike Tyson, and listeners need to, as he says in the song, "lend me your ears, or I will eat them all."

Mike Tyson

In keeping with his affable yet deadly vibe for the last few decades, the song by LA-based group Tiki Lau is heard over scenes of an animated Tyson in combat. He goes fin-to-toe against a shredded shark then he takes on a sea monster (or dragon; or sea dragon—whatever, it's a damn cartoon). All while wearing a diving mask and a snorkel and sipping from a tropical drink.

Other samples of Iron Mike sound bites heard include "I've been the wildest, I've been the craziest, I've been the outrageous, the vicious, the most destructive fighter" and "An international warlord that'll strip your heart out ... and guess what? I'M MIKE TYSON!!!"

Tyson has gotten back in fighting shape and he's getting ready to return to the ring in an exhibition boxing match against fellow pugilistic legend Roy Jones Jr., who is 51.

If that goes well, could we one day see Tyson go against an actual shark? He's a cannabis mogul, too, so he's certainly got enough psychoactive inspiration available to give it a try. We'll have an idea as to what the future holds for Iron Mike when he and Jones face off on November 28, 2020

A Spanish-made Vespa S 150 was used by two students to make a trip around the world in 79 days.

Perfect in its compactness, functionality, and widely imitated design, the Vespa scooter is not only a means of transport, but a true icon. Introduced by the Italian firm Piaggio in 1946 with the model 98, Vespa enjoyed quick success. The scooters’ diminutive size and affordability were perfect for promoting postwar mobility. But as with most novel designs, it would also be highly imitated, destined for icon status. From Piaggio’s origins to the first Vespa prototypes to today's forward-looking Elettrica model, Vespa has been synonymous with efficient, fun transportation and style.

From the very first licensed productions in the early 1950s, the Vespa was a citizen of the world, capable of interacting in social circles that were worlds apart. It generated such specific cultural phenomena and adapted so well to a wide array of situations as to become a point of reference in each.

Giorgio Bettinelli completed expeditions in five continents aboard his loyal Vespa PX

It inspired traditions, musical trends and youthful tendencies. It accompanied countries and continents in their economic and social evolution, and it brought Italy with all of its style, beauty and capacity for combining technology and elegance to the streets of the entire world.

With over 19 million units sold, the Vespa is not simply a scooter, but the scooter, known and appreciated the world over—a rare example of a motor vehicle that survived crises and fashions, always remaining faithful to the original concept. The youth of the decades to come, no matter where they are in the world, will find themselves united by an extraordinary vehicle that has always been and will always be a symbol of freedom; a vehicle that will continue to delight and inspire future generations of enthusiasts.

Vespa PK50

Tried and True

Just as in the past (since the end of the 1960s), Vespas are still crafted in their two original “vespino” (small-frame) and “vespone” (large-frame) sizes.

Racy Heritage

The Vespa Sei Giorni 300 HPE features eye-catching number plates reminiscent of the scooters that won the 1951 Six Days Trial Race, which included off-road competition.

Vespa 125 Primavera

Land Speed Record

The fastest Vespa is a 125cc missile that reached 106.26 mph on a jaunt from Rome to the nearby coastal town of Ostia in 1951. The most powerful model is the Vespa GTS 300 with 23.8 horsepower.

Time-Tested Suspension

Today’s front suspension maintains the same design of the first 1946 prototype, which was ingeniously adopted from Piaggio’s aeronautical designs.

An Electric Future

The newest and most revolutionary Vespa is the Elettrica. The all-electric, zero-emissions model is available with either 30- or 45-mph top speeds.

The Vespa at 50

The new generation Vespa launched in 1996 features the traditional steel frame, but with an automatic transmission. To celebrate Vespa’s 50th anniversary, the ET 50 was presented to the international press in Rome’s historic center.

Special Edition for 60

Designed to celebrate Vespa’s 60th anniversary, the special GTV series inspired by the first 1946 prototype featured a chrome handlebar, a headlight on the front fender, and two separate seats.

Legacy Models

The names of some Vespa models are carried over from past scooters, such as Primavera, Sprint, and Six Days.

Size Matters

For many years, Vespa scooters were equipped with 10-inch-diameter wheels, but the newest models' measure 11 inches.

Social Conscience

Unveiled in 2013, Model 946 embodies the latest evolution in original style. For each scooter sold, Piaggio donates $150 to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS with (RED), effectively providing medicines in Sub-Saharan Africa for over 500 days.

"Vespa: Style and Passion" by Valerio Boni and Stefano Cordara—available now on Amazon—celebrates the beloved Italian scooter's 75-year history and the culture it inspired.

You might know Daniela Botero from the cover of Playboy if you live in Colombia, or Madame Figaro if you live in France; her ad campaigns for the likes of L’Oréal, John Frieda, and Azzaro; or her editorials for just about every beauty and fashion magazine that matters in Europe and abroad. But the one she’s always had a soft spot for is Maxim. “I did a couple of covers for Maxim Mexico and Maxim Colombia,” she says with a warm smile. “And now I’m in Maxim U.S., and I’m very happy.” Welcome to the big leagues.

Some are no doubt already Googling “Daniela Botero” and “nude,” but a spoiler alert is in order. You will find her scantily, but always tastefully clad—but that’s it. “I’m very comfortable with my body, but I think it’s nicer and more elegant when the model doesn’t show too much,” she tells us. “I think sexiness and sensuality is about attitude and how you move your body. And I’m Latin so I have a Latin body. It’s more curvy. I’m not a European-style, very skinny girl. So, for me to be sexy is very easy. Sometimes I need to be less sexy, actually. It’s a good problem to have.”

With emerald eyes, cover girl beauty and curves to die for, Botero is not just a pretty face. It so happens the lady can act. Just take a look at her in the Fox America hit series, Run, Coyote, Run, a black comedy dealing with immigration issues in the border town of Naco, Arizona. In it she plays Catalina, a Colombian girl who gets by working in strip clubs before marrying the town’s corrupt mayor.

“I dress in cheesy western style, with cowboy boots and a lot of makeup,” is how she describes her look on the show. “He treats me horrible, horrible, horrible,” is how she describes her much older husband on the show. “At the end of season three, he starts having an affair with his secretary, and she puts a bomb in the car and kills him,” is how she describes his demise.

Run, Coyote, Run shoots in the Mexican desert south of Tucson, a place that required an all-day commute from Botero’s home in Miami. Even when working for Fox/Disney, productions in the Latin-American market are subcontracted to local entities with micro-budgets. “This town is in the middle of nowhere,” she laments. “One horrible hotel, nothing to do, it’s a ghost town. You can see the border wall the whole time.”

At any rate, her shows make money. Run, Coyote, Run was number one in Brazil, the continent’s largest market, and so was Betty en NY, the Latinx version of Ugly Betty on Telemundo. In that, she plays the director of a modeling agency, a role she could play in her sleep. “The pretty girl, a little sexy, bad girl, so this was very easy.” It should be easy, since she studied at one of the finest acting schools in the world—Lee Strasberg Institute in New York, whose alumnae include Marilyn Monroe, Barbra Streisand and, more recently, Scarlett Johansson and Angelina Jolie.

“It was a great experience,” she recalls. “The more I work in my career, the more comfortable I feel, the more successful I am on camera. It’s because I feel comfortable working on the character, developing the character. I feel comfortable not being myself, not being pretty and sexy. I enjoy changing in my characters.” That confidence comes from studying full time in the conservatory program. “I learned comedy is harder than drama because it’s all about facial expression. But when I’m myself, I’m comical. I don’t need to do too much.”

She didn’t need to do too much to get into modeling, either. There she was, a 17-year-old student abroad in Paris, attending classes by day and working as an au pair by night. One afternoon, while sitting in a cafe, a woman asked if she had any interest in modeling. She didn’t. “I was doing journalism and communications. It was never in my mind to become a model. I knew I was beautiful and I knew I could do it, but I was afraid to, ‘cause I’m not 5’ 11”, I’m 5’ 8”.”

In the end, she was coaxed into an appointment with Women Management Paris. “I was making eight euros an hour as a babysitter. So, I tried it and two months later I was working constantly,” she says, still in disbelief. “So, I just decided to keep myself working cause I was making a lot of money.”

But it wasn’t all unicorns and rainbows in the beginning. After her first test shoot, the photographer called the agency and said, “This girl needs to practice her modeling, cause I was the worst model ever,” she laughs, looking back on it. “I didn’t know how to pose. I was just so tight. With years of practice, I’ve learned that being a model is to not model. The more you forget about the camera, the more amazing the pictures are.”

Amazing pictures lead to amazing offers. Her other current series, 100 días para enamorarnos, a romantic comedy, is on hiatus during the pandemic, but should air sometime next year. In the meantime, she hopes to put all that blue-chip theater training to good use kicking ass.

“I see myself doing action films,” she says of the next phase of her career. “I’ve been training with great people. I think I’m going the way I want to go.” Of course, many aren’t going anywhere in the film business until production fully opens up again. So, for the past few months Botero has been sheltering in place in Miami, learning new dishes in the kitchen and taking English and acting courses, but also just resting.

“I love acting but I love to have time for myself. After this pandemic, I think it’s important to have a non-stressful life. I love to exercise, I love the ocean, I love to listen to music and go to different restaurants,” she sighs, sitting back and reminiscing about the things she missed most. “I always say time is more expensive than diamonds, ‘cause you can never gain time again.”

<![CDATA[UFC Heavyweight Champ Stipe Miocic On His Favorite Car, Video Games, Vices, and MMA GOATs]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=sports/ufc-heavyweight-champ-stipe-miocic-on-cars-tech-video-games-mma-goatshttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=sports/ufc-heavyweight-champ-stipe-miocic-on-cars-tech-video-games-mma-goatsMon, 26 Oct 2020 11:00:00 GMT

UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is one of the few combat sports athletes who can lay claim to the rarefied title of "Baddest Man on the Planet"— that immortal moniker first claimed by a young Mike Tyson. Considered the best heavyweight in UFC history, Miocic, 38, currently reigns over the sport's biggest division with an iron fist. As UFC fans eagerly await the announcement of Miocic's next challenger, we caught up with the champ to talk about his unusual side job, favorite car, video games and apps, and the MMA legends he considers to be the best ever.

Aside from being UFC heavyweight champ, you famously work as a part-time firefighter and paramedic in Ohio. Why continue to work that job?

I have been blessed and grateful to be a champion in the MMA world. The first thing I did aside from my professional career was become a firefighter/paramedic. School was hard, and I had to take some time off from training, but it was worth it. I am very lucky and proud with everything that I have accomplished in my life so far.

Are there any skills or habits you learned doing that job that helped you become a better MMA fighter?

I have learned many things from being a firefighter/paramedic. Some of which are listening, understanding and making sure I am always doing the right thing. I would say the most important skill though was learning to stay cool, calm, and collected in any situation, which has not only helped me with my career as a paramedic/firefighter, but also with my career as a professional MMA fighter.

You were a Cleveland Golden Gloves boxing champion and a Division 1 wrestler at Cleveland State. But UFC fans may not know that you also played baseball and even received interest from some MLB teams in college. What's the one sport would you would have wanted to play professionally besides MMA?

I have done well. Golden Gloves Boxing champion, playing baseball in college, I am a big guy so I always get noticed. Unfortunately, I did not get picked up for baseball while in college, but I guess that is a good thing because I would not change where I am for the world. I think it worked out for the better.

What's your absolute favorite post-fight meal or activity?

My favorite activity after a fight is just hanging out with family, friends and my coaches. Being around the people I love after a win/lose/draw is so important. We are all in this together. I do love pizza though so I would say that is my favorite post-fight meal if I had to choose.

Are you into shoes, sneakers or watches?

Overall I am not a materialistic guy. More so now because of my wife, since she dresses me I have to dress nice. I like shoes but I don’t go out of my way to buy them. Recently, I have been big into fanny packs. I have an MCM one, and I know it's flashy but I like it because “MCM” are my daughters initials. I have also been wearing watches more and more now. I really like the Apple Watch.

How about a favorite ride?

The Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel is my favorite car. I had one and then upgraded to another Dodge but different model that is not as good, so when the new Dodge Rebel is released, I will be getting it. Those cars are awesome.

What's your absolute favorite travel destination?

There is not one specific spot I like to travel, but I will say I love traveling when I am with my family. When I get to spend time with my wife and daughter I am always happy, no matter where we are or what we are doing.

What are your all-time favorite video games?

My two favorite games to play are Resident Evil and Call of Duty. Honestly, I am a big gamer so I enjoy getting online and playing any game to help me pass time whether it’s during fight camp or on off days when I am not training.

What apps do you use the most on your phone? Are you an Apple or Android guy?

Apple over Android! Most people laugh when I tell them the most-used app on my phone is YouTube, but it's for my daughter. She is obsessed with Baa Baa Black Sheep.

What music do you like to listen to when you train and relax?

Surprisingly, I don’t listen to music when I train or when I am in the car. When I do, it ranges from Machine Gun Kelly, to Taylor Swift to Chicago. I just go with what I am feeling in the moment.

When it comes to MMA, who are the all-time greatest fighters?

Georges St. Pierre, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, to name a few, but there are way too many fighters that I think are “great.” This list can go on and on.

What's the best advice you have for someone who wants to become a pro MMA fighter?

Practice makes perfect. Most importantly though, make sure to have fun with it. At the end of the day, it is a sport that makes you pissed off sometimes, but all you have to do is have fun so you can achieve your goal.

How long do you plan on continuing to fight, and how do you plan to spend your time after you retire?

With technology, I will fight till I am 100. The minute I am not having fun, I will walk away. Right now, I am having fun. I feel the best I have ever felt and it makes me and my family happy.

Once I am done fighting, I will relax by my pool, drink lots of wine, eat lots of meats and cheeses and smoke a bunch of cigars. One thing I will promise to do is I will promise to support and train young fighters. I want to stay as much involved as possible with the sport to be supportive to those who were supportive to me.

<![CDATA[Montblanc Scales New Heights with Climber-Approved 1858 Geosphere Watch]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/montblanc-climbing-watchhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/montblanc-climbing-watchMon, 26 Oct 2020 10:55:00 GMT

Take your watch collection to a higher plane this fall and winter, literally, with the launch of the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Messner LE 262, a one-of-a-kind launch that sees the famed luxury company partnering with legendary climber and explorer Reinhold Messner.

It’s the final Montblanc watch launch of the year, so it’s very fitting that they decided to ascend to new heights, in a manner of speaking, and we’re highly impressed with the results.

The 1858 Geosphere Messner LE 262 pays homage to Messner’s extraordinary career in the coolest way possible, with a run limited to 262 pieces in a nod to Messner’s unmatched penchant for scaling peaks above 26,200 feet.

Notes of bronze, blue and rose gold are handsome, refined and classic, in another nod to vintage mountaineering gear. The watch blends all this together at an investment-level price point of $6,500 and is available at Montblanc boutiques.

It’s a launch that makes perfect sense, seeing as the 2018 launch of the Geosphere line has paid homage to the challenge of scaling the world’s seven summits through the years. It’s a variation of the Seven Summits Challenge which the legendary climber and explorer turned into “Messner’s List.”

Messner certainly has a legacy befitting of such a timepiece: In 1978, Messner and Austrian Peter Habeler became the first to scale Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. Messner was also the first person to scale all 14 peaks above that eye-popping 26,200-foot elevation marker, and this exceptional timepiece is as fitting a nod to that prowess as possible.

The specs are truly remarkable, with several touchpoints that celebrate Messner’s remarkable career. On the dial itself, you’ll find the world’s seven summits, called out with dots on two turning globes (the globes fully rotate every 24 hours, representing the northern and southern hemispheres).

It gets better: On the case back, you’ll see the famed Mont Blanc mountain, plus a complete Messner list of far-reaching summits. Other design touches include engravings of a compass, crossed pickaxes and Messner’s signature.

It’s a watch made for both adventure enthusiasts and watch collectors alike, to say the very least. It’s helps that it’s quite wearable, thanks to a 42mm case diameter crafted from bronze alloy.

The timepiece is finished off with a luxury blue NATO strap, crafted carefully to Montblanc’s exacting specifications. Taken all at once, it’s a striking watch that epitomizes luxury and adventure, and you’re going to be hard-pressed to find another one like it.

<![CDATA[Meet Maria Bakalova, The Breakout Star of The New Borat Movie]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/meet-maria-bakalova-new-borat-moviehttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/meet-maria-bakalova-new-borat-movieSun, 25 Oct 2020 19:18:10 GMT
Sacha Baron Cohen; Maria Bakalova

The full title of Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie is Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, and it would be an understatement to say that this, his followup to his insane 2006 mockumentary, has already had an impact.

Maria Bakalova, Sacha Baron Cohen

In fact, one reason Maria Bakalova, the 24-year-old actress who plays Borat's 15-year-old daughter Tutar, is a sudden breakout star from the second fake Borat documentary is a clip in which she has a strange interaction with no less than former New York mayor—and current attorney to the president—Rudy Giuliani.

In the controversial scene, Giuliani is in a hotel suite and Bakalova, as Tutar, is interviewing him in disguise as a journalist. The interview is innocuous enough, about the president's response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, then afterwards, "Tutar" invites the former mayor to have a drink in hotel suite's bedroom.

Once there, Giuliani lies down and it looks like he puts his hands down his pants. Then Baron Cohen (as Borat) barges in to tell Giuliani that at 15, Tutar is "too old for you."

After the scene was released, Giuliani was ripped online for falling for it, among other things, though he claimed he knew what was going on. Borat also came to his defense.

Bakalova may be petite and youthful-looking but her Instagram reveals she's definitely a 24-year-old Bulgarian actress—and thanks to Baron Cohen's shenanigans in this new movie, a rising star.

Check out some selections from Bakalova's Instagram below and you can watch Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (try to say all that in one breath) starring her, Sacha Baron Cohen, and a colorful cast of unwitting interview subjects like Rudy Giuliani on Amazon Prime right now: Alpha XR/Borat-Subsequent-Moviefilm-Sacha-Baron.

<![CDATA[Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier and More React to Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC Retirement]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=sports/ufc-fighters-conor-mcgregor-khabib-nurmagomedov-retirementhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=sports/ufc-fighters-conor-mcgregor-khabib-nurmagomedov-retirementSun, 25 Oct 2020 17:07:31 GMT
Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov retired undefeated. At 32, the Dagestani UFC lightweight titleholder had just beaten Justin Gaethje in a match on UFC's Fight Island on October 24, 2020 when he made his announcement:

"Today, this was my last fight," said Nurmagomedov, "Ain't no way I'm going to come here without my father.

The fighter's father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, died in early 2020 from COVID-19-related complications.

Following his victory, the 32-year-old was visibly emotional, making it obvious this was no regular match for him.

Nurmagomedov explained his situation further in an interview following the match, reports CNN:

Nurmagomedov said he talked with his mother for three days before deciding to accept the fight with Gaethje.

"She don't (want me) to go fight without father, but I promised her it's going to be my last fight," he said in a post-match interview. "And if I give my word, I have to follow this."

The 32-year-old Russian fighter said it was his first time fighting without his father.

Dana White was quick with kudos, calling Khabib Nurmagomedov "one of the toughest human beings on the planet."

"He's the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world," White said, "and, seriously, you have to start putting him up there at GOAT status."

Friends and foes alike -- Conor McGregor, Jon "Bones" Jones and Daniel Cormier to name a few -- responded with respect.

Khabib Nurmagomedov posted a photo of himself and his dad on Instagram after the fight. A devout Muslim, it was clear his thoughts were entirely about his late father and about faith.

"When ALLAH with you, nobody can broke you, nobody," he said in this caption,
"Thanks Father for everything, you teach all my life, may ALLAH grant you the highest Paradise."

Nurmagomedov retires number 1 in men's UFC pound-for-pound rankings, undefeated at 29-0, with 8 knockouts, 11 submissions and 10 decision wins.

And that's how you go out on top.

<![CDATA[These Classic Alfa Romeo Concepts Could Sell for $20 Million]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/alfa-romeo-bat-series-headed-to-auctionhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/alfa-romeo-bat-series-headed-to-auctionSat, 24 Oct 2020 09:00:00 GMT

If you agree that certain strikingly gorgeous exotic cars double pieces of fine art, then the Alfa Romeo Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica (B.A.T.) series is the only true automotive triptych. As such, RM Sotheby's is working with Sotheby's Fine Art Division to sell the B.A.T. series at the Contemporary Art Evening Auction event on October 28 in New York City.

The story begins in the early 1950s, when Alfa Romeo first approached designer Franco Scaglione and coachbuilder Carrozzeria Bertone of Turin, Italy to create technical aerodynamic concepts following the legendary duo's build of the Abarth 1500 experimental coupe. The relatively unimpressionable Alfa Romeo 1900 would serves as a canvas for Scaglione and Bertone as they penned and hand-built three one-off vehicles presented in 1953, 1954 and 1955.

The first, dubbed B.A.T. 5, is delightfully unrecognizable from its base car. Drastic elements include protruding pontoon fenders, a rounded nose with dual air vents, a flowing teardrop-shaped wraparound-glass cockpit, rear shoulders enclosed by leaning tailfins, and airflow-reversing rear wheel skirts.

The B.A.T. 5's radical design achieved a drag coefficient of roughly 0.23 at nearly 94 mph. For comparison's sake, RM Sotheby's notes that the Tesla Model S has a drag coefficient of .24, and Elon Musk has the advantage of wind tunnel testing and computer-aided design. Equally impressive is that a 43-horsepower 1.9-liter four-cylinder pushed the vehicle to a tested top speed of 123.6 mph.

The B.A.T. 5's success spawned the created of the B.A.T. 7, which doesn't stray far from the original but features narrowed front air intakes, a lowered hood, lengthened tailfins. This lowered the drag coefficient to .19, a figure that's almost entirely unmatched by any past or present production vehicle. Weight was reduced as well, from the B.A.T. 5’s roughly 2,400 pounds to just 2,200 pounds.

Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 9

Alfa Romeo’s mandate for the final B.A.T 9 was to “make it more practical for road use.” The rear wheel skirts were deleted, and the fins were reduced significantly to improve visibility. A pronounced beltline was added toward the rear, while a standard production triangular Giulietta grille with Alfa's Milano crest was fitted to the front grille, highlighting the car’s identity.

Since a single private collector acquired the entire Alfa Romeo B.A.T. series in 1990, the three vehicles have been showcased at world-class motoring events such as the Cartier Style et Luxe at Goodwood, the Louis Vuitton Bagatelle Concours d‘Elegance, and the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza. As a unit, the trio is expected to fetch between $14 and $20 million. Head to RM Sotheby's website for more details and provenance.

Margot Robbie has skillfully portrayed many roles since her breakout part in The Wolf of Wall Street, from Sharon Tate to Tonya Harding to Harley Quinn. Now the superstar Australian actress tries on a Texas twang for size as a 1930s-era bank robber on the lam in Dreamland, an indie thriller that was filmed in 2017 but is just now getting released.

Here's the official synopsis:

Eugene Evans (Finn Cole) is coming of age in the Texas Dust Bowl. Clinging to a dream of escape and reunion with his biological father, Eugene and his family struggle to keep their home amidst a plague of Dust Storms and foreclosures.

In a nearby town, five innocent civilians are killed in the midst of a holdup, and the local authorities are pursuing the fugitive bank robber, Allison Wells (Margot Robbie). When a $10,000 bounty is placed for the capture of Ms. Wells, Eugene seizes the opportunity in hopes that this monetary reward will prevent the foreclosure of his family farm. However, the task comes easier than anticipated when Eugene finds her hiding out in his family farm.

Eugene discovers that Allison Wells story may be a bit different that he had thought, and there may be a better way to save his family than turn her in. It doesn’t hurt that Allison Wells is a good talker and soft on the eyes, but more than that Eugene begins to fall in love for the first time in his life because they share something else; the dream of escaping their stories.

Dreamland premieres on-demand on November 17 and In select theaters November 13. Watch the trailer above.

<![CDATA[The iPhone 12 Pro: A Hands-On Review]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=gear/hands-on-with-the-new-iphone-12-pro-2020-10https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=gear/hands-on-with-the-new-iphone-12-pro-2020-10Fri, 23 Oct 2020 12:48:40 GMT

It’s time to review the brand-new iPhone. In a year that was way, way weirder than most, the familiar feeling of unboxing the iPhone 12 Pro still carries with it the anticipation and excitement of opening a holiday present. Coincidentally, that’s also where the iPhone 12 Pro falls; in the comfortable zone between familiar and thrilling.

First, the familiar. The iPhone 12 Pro barely changes the form factor that Apple has adopted after ditching the front-facing physical button of yesteryear. The full glass front with an oddball notch jutting from the top makes for an identical user experience that started with the iPhone X. That said, Apple has eschewed sleek rounded corners for the hard-angled outer frame made from surgical grade stainless steel that makes the entire iPhone 12 lineup harken back to the popular iPhone 4 and 4S. The 12 Pro is a hefty little machine without feeling bulky. It’s dense and feels significant as a result.

In terms of nuts and bolts, that heft is likely a result of packing the 12 Pro wall to wall with Apple’s latest guts. The A14 Bionic chip and the ecosystem Apple’s built around it absolutely smokes the competition. Responses to your commands are lightning fast. FaceID unlocks the phone in a true blink of an eye. Siri can be summoned instantly, even while video is playing. The 12 Pro has power on demand and that’s a necessity for the device that most people live by.

Speed and response-time come off as a priority in this iteration of the iPhone and servicing that goal is where the excitement comes in. In testing, there are three major improvements that give the iPhone 12 Pro it’s quickness: 5G, LiDAR and MagSafe.

5G is entirely about connection speed. Here in NYC, it seems to make a noticeable difference, though the spottiness of the USA’s 5G network will definitely yield a “your mileage may vary” experience. That said, where it does work, a 5G connection absolutely demolished load times. In fact, anyone that has ever been irked by the endless, inexplicable spinning wheel when checking email or waiting for YouTube to buffer will be pleased to find the 5G connectivity of the iPhone 12 Pro has made them a thing of the past. The internet feels instantaneous now.

LiDAR, the new feature of the 12 Pro’s camera sensor array, may seem like a niche perk. Enabling the new phone to accurately and quickly calculate distances, Apple has pegged this new feature as a means of enhancing augmented reality experiences that are, largely, still in their infancy. In practice, the LiDAR sensor gives the 12 Pro’s camera functions lightning-fast focus and incredible low-light response, whether it’s taking photos or video. It’s a small but noticeable difference when shooting on the phone that makes the entire camera feel more professional and responsive. It’s another feather in Apple’s cap as they push for the iPhone to be taken seriously by amateur and professional creators alike.

The same way LiDAR enhances the camera, MagSafe gives a significant boost to charging. Sure, these iPhones will still work with Qi wireless chargers but rest the iPhone 12 Pro on a MagSafe wireless charger and the improved battery seems to simply soak in the power. While Apple seems to be focusing entirely on charging or sticking accessories together, expect third-party accessory makers like Belkin or Logitech to fill in any cracks in Apple’s accessory lineup and leverage hard on MagSafe’s abilities.

All said and done, Apple has yet again created a lustworthy piece of hardware that’s as easy to pick up and use as it is to be seen and envied. For those upgrading from last year’s 11 Pro, there’s plenty of quality-of-life niceties to be enjoyed. For those upgrading from literally any other iPhone, welcome to the future. The iPhone 12 Pro (as well as the regular iPhone 12) are available now.

<![CDATA[This Colorful G-Shock Dive Watch Was Inspired by the Rare Rainbow Toad]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/g-shock-frogman-dive-watch-rainbow-toadhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/g-shock-frogman-dive-watch-rainbow-toadFri, 23 Oct 2020 12:00:00 GMT

G-Shock named its Master of G Frogman model after the slang term for combat swimmers, but the latest limited of the edition diver watch was indeed inspired by an amphibious creature.

The forthcoming GWFA1000BRT-1's multi-colored sub dials and IP, blue, yellow and green hands, and textured translucent bezel were informed by the hues and skin of the rainbow toad. The rarity of the species, which is endemic to the Bornean mountains, is reflected by the one-of-a-kind rainbow color scheme featured on each example.

The standard GWFA1000 Master of G Frogman's features are retained, including 200M of water resistance, a sturdy carbon monocoque case, stain-resistant fluorine band, solar-powered charging and Bluetooth connectivity.

A Super LED light and contrasting black sub-dial ensures readability in the dark or underwater, while home time, dual time, tide information, and dive time measurements are all displayed in an analog format.

The GWFA1000BRT-1 will be available this November in G-Shock retailers and online for $1,100. Alternatively, you can grab the original Master of G Frogman for $800 right now.

<![CDATA['Step Brothers' Deepfake: Watch Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger Become Best Friends]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/sylvester-stallone-arnold-schwarzenegger-step-brothers-deepfakehttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/sylvester-stallone-arnold-schwarzenegger-step-brothers-deepfakeFri, 23 Oct 2020 11:00:00 GMT

Man, the art of the video "deepfake" is improving in a truly spooky way. This bonkers clip, posted by Youtuber Brian Monarch, Takes the "did we just become best friends?" scene from Step Brothers and turns it on its head by subbing Sylvester Stallone for John C. Reilly's Dale Doback and Arnold Schwarzenegger for Will Ferrell's Brennan Huff.

The scene plays out precisely as it does in the movie, and the actor's voices are the same, but it's all done with Stallone and Schwarzenegger's faces, and whereas some early deepfakes glitched in obvious ways, this one is almost flawless and it's downright weird. The original is below.

If you are old enough to remember the intense rivalry between Stallone and Schwarzenegger in the 80s and 90s then the deepfake version is stranger still, as the whole dialogue is initially antagonistic step bros Doback and Huff realizing they have a lot in common after all, and becoming friends on the spot.

The punchline, "Do you wanna go do karate in the garage?" changes meaning too, because it seems like peak 80s-90s Schwarzenegger and Stallone's version of this would lead to the garage exploding and random ninjas converging on them both from nowhere.

Sadly, this is probably the only Step Brothers sequel we'll see for a while, though Will Ferrell described a possible storyline for one in 2017: "We talked about Step Brothers and then Adam and I got sidetracked with other things ... We had a whole story where John and I follow our parents to live in a retirement community and try to convince them that we earned the right to retire as well."

We'd watch that, no Stallone or Schwarzenegger face-swapping necessary.

This year’s Halloween looks a little different. Trick-or-Treating and the standard spooky revelry is a no-go, so for most of us, Halloween looks a whole lot like scary movie marathons on the couch. And what pairs better with rewatching The Purge than spirited libations? Costume or not, the below, bartender-approved cocktails will be a hit no matter how your Halloween plays out.

Ectoplasm Gimlet

With a recipe made by none other than Ghostbusters director Paul Feig, this neon-hued drink is bonafide Instagram bait.

 • 1.5 oz Artingstall’s Brilliant London Dry Gin
 • 1 oz elderflower liqueur (St. Germain)
 • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
 • 1/4 oz Midori
 • Candy corn

Shake the gin, elderflower, lime juice and Midori with ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Take two pieces of candy corn and melt the back of one with a match. Press the melted side onto the other piece and once they fuse, put them onto the rim of the glass as a garnish.

Zombie Punch

This zombified Tiki recipe from acclaimed New York City cocktail bar Death & Co pulls together three types of rums (deadly), grapefruit, cinnamon, and a dash of absinthe. The name "zombie" should be taken as a warning—sip a few of these, and you’ll find out why.

 • 1 oz Plantation Traditional Dark Rum
 • 1 oz Cana Brava
 • 1 oz Smith and Cross
 • 1 oz Don’s Mix
 • .75 oz Lime
 • .5 oz Falernum
 • .25 oz Grenadine
 • 2 dash Absinthe
 • 1 dash Angostura Bitters

Add ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake thoroughly. Pour into a Tiki mug. Garnish with mint sprigs, an orchid, or pineapple fronds.

Golden Tail

Fall flavors in a glass—the warming combo of Allspice Dram, honey, and Tennessee Whiskey makes this a staple all through the chilly autumn season.

 • 2 oz. Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
 • .75 oz lemon juice
 • .5 oz honey simple (2:1 ratio raw honey to water)
 • .25 oz Allspice Dram
 • 1 dash chocolate bitters

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a chilled coupe. Express the oils from a lemon peel over the top of the drink and discard the peel.

Tequila isn’t just for summer: the combination of coconut milk, lime, bitters and (the Halloween-appropriate) Ghost Tequila make for a too-easy-to-drink option. Bonus points if you opt for dry ice as a garnish.

 • 2 oz Ghost Tequila
 • 1 oz lime juice
 • ¾ oz agave nectar
 • 1 oz coconut milk

Shake and strain over ice and add a dash of Peychaud’s Bitters

Jalisco Flip

The ‘flip’ style of cocktail dates all the way back to the 1600s, when sailors would mix together eggs, rum, ale, and molasses in a drink to warm up the soul on chilly ocean nights. Nick Ruiz and Kitty Bernardo of New York’s Patent Pending have updated the fluffy, frothy drink for today’s imbibers with a punch of tequila. Note this cocktail requires a hefty amount of shaking so don’t make these for a crowd unless it’s arm day.

 • 1.5 oz Hiatus Tequila Reposado
 • .75 oz Averna
 • .5 oz cane syrup
 • 2 dashes angostura bitters
 • 1 whole egg

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously without ice for 15 seconds, or until all ingredients are completely emulsified. Add ice and shake vigorously for another 15 seconds, or until the outside of the tin begins to frost over. Strain into a glass garnish with a few drops of angostura bitters.

Manhattan Smoke Show

This is the spooky Manhattan cocktail you never knew you needed. Made by Irish-bred, New York-based bartender Kate Monahan, this cocktail blends Irish whiskey, cherry liqueur, Oaxaca Mezcal, and French Vermouth. Plus a ldash of chile liqueur for good measure.

 • 1 oz Grace O'Malley Blended Irish Whiskey
 • .75 oz mezcal
 • .5 oz Ancho Chile Liqueur by Ancho Reyes
 • .75 oz Heering Cherry Liqueur
 • .5 oz sweet vermouth

Stir all the ingredients together with ice. Strain into a small coupe-style glass and serve.

Bloodthirsty Mary

If the scariest part this Halloween is your hangover, opt for a spicy Bloody Mary riff by Manny Hinojosa. It will awaken the dead.

 • 1.5 oz tequila
 • 1/4 oz The Perfect Purée Red Jalapeño Puree, thawed
 • 5 oz tomato juice
 • 1/2 oz soy sauce
 • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
 • Dash of Maggi sauce
 • 4 drops of sesame oil
 • Pinch of salt
 • Pinch of black pepper
 • Pinch of ginger powder

Mix all ingredients then pour into a glass with ice and a salted rim. Garnish with red jalapeño, cherry tomato, celery, lime wheel, onion, and toasted sesame seeds.

Screamsicle Mimosa

Think of this like adult Halloween candy: A mimosa base of California bubbly and orange juice, plus ice cream, shaved dark chocolate. Best paired with leftover Halloween candy.

 • Korbel California Brut
 • 2 oz no-pulp orange juice
 • Spoonful of vanilla ice cream
 • Shaved dark chocolate candy bar, optional

Pour 2 ounces of orange juice into your champagne flute. Stir in a spoonful of vanilla ice cream and top with Korbel California Brut. If desired, sprinkle on chocolate shavings from your favorite chocolate bar.

Pumpkinhead Sour

Jack O’ Lanterns are a thematic staple to Day of the Dead, and this recipe calls for fluffy pumpkin butter—how appropriate—plus rye whiskey, rum, lemon, and nutmeg.

 • 1.5 oz Fresh Victor Lemon Sour
 • 1.5 oz rye whiskey
 • .5 oz Jamaican rum (or any aged rum)
 • 1 tablespoon pumpkin butter (from Trader Joe’s, for example)
 • 2 dashes Dale DeGroff's Pimento Bitters or Angostura Bitters
 • Nutmeg

Add all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice to the brim. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. Add ice to a rocks glass and strain mixture over ice. Garnish with lemon twist and grated nutmeg.

Tennessee Whiskey Cider

Parents: this is what you should be slipping into mug when taking the wee ones Trick-or-Treating. Non-parents: this hot cider will warm up your hands if your spook day plans have you celebrating outside. For a chilled version of the cocktail, add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, shake thoroughly, pour over ice, and garnish with an expressed lemon peel.

 • 2 oz Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
 • 4 oz spiced local apple cider
 • .25 oz lemon juice
 • .5 oz demerara simple syrup
 • 1 dash Fee’s Cardamom Bitters

Add Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey to a cocktail mug. Combine cider, lemon juice, demerara and bitters in a small saucepan and simmer until heated through. Add to mug and stir briefly to mix. Garnish with a clove studded lemon wheel.

To create the spiced apple cider, combine half a gallon of local cider with three cinnamon sticks, one tablespoon of allspice and one tablespoon of whole cloves in a saucepan. Heat to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Let the spices continue to steep while the cider cools, then strain the cider. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

<![CDATA[First Drive: The New McLaren GT]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/first-drive-new-mclaren-gthttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/first-drive-new-mclaren-gtFri, 23 Oct 2020 10:00:00 GMT

There’s a reason why the Martians in H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds originally landed in Woking, Surrey – just a 20 minute South Western Railway ride from London. Any creatures that can all but conquer Earth with tripods and death rays must love outstanding engineering — and Woking is home to McLaren.

The longtime fixture on Formula 1 tracks and a rival with Rolls- Royce, Aston Martin and Bentley for UK hypercar quid, the McLaren designs always look to pour racing speed into elite consumer cars. The results included some global classic automobiles, including the F1 – always referred to glowingly as a legendary dream car and once the fastest consumer speedster on four wheels with a top speed north of 230 mph. It remains the fastest naturally aspirated, mass-produced, road legal car ever constructed.

The 2020 McLaren GT is the latest supercar coming out of England, and taking on those two capital letters comes with a clear challenge. GT stands for grand touring, Such a car is supposed to represent the best of both worlds for anyone who truly loves driving. Luxuriously equipped and kitted out for comfort and convenience, the vehicle is supposed to provide the best possible ride for longer hauls. High-powered and precisely tuned, the machine needs to offer thrilling speed and excellent handling for those stretches where a longer haul offers a nice stretch of road.

Only such a car earns the coveted GT monicker, standing for Grand Touring or Gran Turismo in European climbs. This new McLaren wears the abbreviation with complete assertiveness and confidence.

Sporting a beating heart in the form of a 612 horsepower, 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine, its acceleration is both immediate, refined and seemingly limitless. If you have the open pavement in front of you, the McLaren GT with go 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 203 mph.

Like many mid-engine supercars, the McLaren GT likes its center of balance low to the ground, so getting in and out of her can be a challenge. Once inside, its sport seats are surprisingly comfortable, wrapping around backsides protected by sport-tuned, double wishbone suspension at the front and rear axles with Proactive Damping Control. Electronically assisted hydraulic steering makes absolutely certain the GT goes where the driver puts it.

The driving experience is bliss. Acceleration on demand. Four-piston brakes that bring freeway speeds to 0 mph in the time it takes to hammer the pedal. Surgical steering. My favorite activity quickly became finding little wolf packs of slower drivers and lesser cars on the freeway. I would hover behind them, making them nervous. When I saw the slightest break in the traffic, I hit light speed and left them behind in awe. The McLaren GT might have been designed for longer trips, but don’t underestimate the speed. It gives you everything you would expect for a starting MSRP of $220,000.

As for the grand touring aspects of the car, the interior includes every imaginable safety and infotainment feature, power everything and surround sound from Bowers & Wilkins. McLaren claims there’s enough room onboard for two people’s luggage, but I might urge folks to consider overnight bags.

Finally, the styling is pure McLaren, from its sleek, low lines to its signature headlamps. It’s a car that makes people on the street or passing in other vehicles gawk in awe.

I smiled happily while referring to that reaction with a fellow automotive writer. In a misplaced effort to feign disinterested objectivity, he said he didn’t like the new grille. There’s a reason I don’t look to spend too much time with other car writers.

Burt Reynolds

In 1977 two movies ruled the box office: Star Wars and Smokey and the Bandit. One movie launched a cultural juggernaut that lasted straight through 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Smokey, which firmly established Burt Reynolds as a comedic leading man, faded a bit from memory but it's still a goofball comedy classic and the filmmaker's decision to embed the cast's hilarious bloopers in the credits is still inspiring imitations.

Current comedy leading lights Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) and Danny McBride—his Eastbound and Down took its title from the Jerry Reed song made famous by the Smokey movies—have shown appreciation for Smokey and its ensuing sequels in 1980 and '83 with plans to reboot the franchise for TV, reports THR.

More from The Hollywood Reporter:

David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down) and frequent collaborator Brian Sides (Alaska: The Last Frontier) are re-teaming to co-write a new take on the 1977 Southern adventure pic. Fellow Green cohorts Danny McBride, Jody Hill and Brandon James of Rough House Pictures will also exec produce the potential series alongside Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins and their Fuzzy Door banner. Green will also direct the potential pilot.

The new take is inspired by the genre of '70s and '80s drive-in double features, with the potential series exploring the crossroads where humble realities meet those larger-than-life, all in a blast of tailpipe exhaust.

Is the time right for such a reboot? Maybe. It does sound like David Gordon Green is the man for the job. THR quotes the Arkansas native as saying "Growing up in the South, Smokey and the Bandit was an iconic franchise for me. The legacy of these characters is a playground of swagger and sass that I'm excited to dig into."

This Movie House Memories synopsis for the original movie gives a good idea as to what we're in for:

Bandit [Reynolds] and the Snowman take a job for $80,000 from Big and Little Enos to bring 400 cases of Coors from Texarkana, Texas to a big party they are throwing in Atlanta, Georgia in 28 hours. Picking it up is...the easy part.

As they leave Texas, Bandit picks up a hitchhiking bride-to-be named Frog. She just left her groom, Junior, at the altar who is the son of Sheriff Buford T. Justice. Now Buford and Junior discover go on a “high-speed pursuit” across several states to catch the Bandit, and bring Frog back to Junior.

Jackie Gleason played Sheriff Buford T. Justice and the comedy icon's blustery delivery turned some of his lines, like "What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law," or "...Soon as I get home, first thing I'm gonna do is punch your mama in the mouth!" into the closest thing the '80s had to memes: Buttons bearing those quotes on middle school kids' Members Only jackets.

With its gleeful celebration of lawbreaking in the interest of beer and low-key anti-authority vibe, the timing might actually be perfect for a new Smokey and the Bandit.

<![CDATA['No Time to Die' Motorcycle Stunt Required 8,400 Gallons of Coca-Cola Poured on an Italian Street]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/no-time-to-die-coca-cola-motorcycle-stunthttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/no-time-to-die-coca-cola-motorcycle-stuntThu, 22 Oct 2020 15:31:31 GMT

Daniel Craig's final James Bond film No Time To Die may be pushed back until April 2, 2021 (at least) but at least they didn't skimp on spending money for over-the-top stunts.

Longtime 007 stuntman Lee Morrison recently revealed that producers shelled out about $70,000 USD pouring 8,400 gallons of Coca-Cola on a cobblestone street in Italy to make it less slippery for a motorcycle stunt.

According to Morrison, Craig himself devised the trick allowing his stunt double rider Paul Edwards to hit a 25-foot ramp at 60 mph, clear a wall and land on the cobblestone street.

“I spent nearly €60,000 spraying Coca-Cola around Matera,” Morrison told Total Film. “I’ve been spraying Coca-Cola on slippery surfaces for a very long time.”

He added that the drink also “makes things look very clean after it washes off”.

Craig recently defended Warner Bros’ decision to postpone the film yet again because of the ongoing pandemic, saying: “This thing is just bigger than all of us. We just want people to go and see this movie in the right way, in a safe way.”

According to NME, Craig added: “Cinemas all around the world are closed at the moment. We want to release the movie at the same time all around the world and this isn’t the right time. So fingers crossed, April 2 [2021] is going to be our day.”

Fingers crossed that No Time to Die finally hits theaters on April 2, 2021.

<![CDATA[Ford and Filson Debut 2021 Bronco Forest Firefighting Concept and Gear Collection]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/2021-ford-bronco-x-filson-wildland-fire-rig-concepthttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/2021-ford-bronco-x-filson-wildland-fire-rig-conceptThu, 22 Oct 2020 15:17:36 GMT

From a compact overlander to five purpose-built "Adventure" vehicles, the 2021 Ford Bronco concepts keep on coming. The latest is collaborative vehicle with Pacific Northwest outfitter Filson with a mission to raise funds for the National Forest Foundation’s reforestation programs and promote fire prevention.

Based on the four-door Bronco Badlands trim with the terrain-tackling Sasquatch Package, the Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig is dressed in a Forest Service Green paint that harks to the original U.S. Forest Service Bronco.

“The Filson and Bronco collaboration was a natural fit, given the deep histories both brands have with the U.S. Forest Service dating back to the midcentury, when crews relied on the Filson Cruiser jackets and first-generation Broncos to reach remote terrain and protect them in harsh conditions,” said Filson executive Doug Thielen.

The thing that distinguishes this concept from others is its loadout. Firefighting equipment including a Pulaski, shovel, water tanks and axes is carried by a heavy-duty roof rack mounted at accessory points on the side mirror arms and rear J-plate.

The rear cargo area hauls a Kimtek FIRELITE Fire/Rescue Transport skid, a Hannay Reels fire hose, Davey high-pressure water pump and 50-gallon water tank, while a STIHL chainsaw, two hard hats, a high lift jack and Sure Seal drip torch are latched to the skid.

Inside is where Filson's biggest contributions are found, beginning with rugged otter green canvas covering the door bolsters, armrests, grab handles, center console seat trim surrounds.

The seats themselves are covered in a black leather material inspired by Filson's jacket lining, while the steering wheel features a Bronco horse logo plated in Filson brass. We've seen a few of the components on other Broncos, namely the modular steel bumper from Ford Performance, a WARN Zeon 10s winch, and Cerakote ceramic-coated wheels.

The custom 4x4 is paired with a three-piece collection of special-edition Bronco x Filson gear—a leather and twill duffle bag, and otter-green heavyweight t-shirt, and a 32-ounce Nalgene water bottle, all of which feature the badass bucking Bronco logo. Half of the revenue from sales of the collection will be donated to the National Forest Foundation.

Ford's newly launched Bronco Wild fund will also donate two Bronco four-door SUVs modeled after the Wildland Fire Rig concept to support forest firefighting crews.

There's no comedic comeback that's been quite as welcome as that of Eddie Murphy. After rocketing to fame on Saturday Night Live and ruling stand-up comedy in the 1980s, Murphy starred in a slew of hit movies, including 48 Hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop and Coming To America, which has finally produced a sequel, Coming 2 America, that's skipping theaters and streaming on Amazon Prime in December.

What's more, Murphy also plans to reprise his role as Axel Foley in the upcoming Beverly Hills Cop 4. While promoting Netflix's Dolomite is My Name in 2019, Murphy said he planned to tackle the project after finishing Coming 2 America.

"Yeah that’s what we’re doing after Coming to America 2," Murphy said. "We’re doing Beverly Hills Cop and then the plan is to get back on stage and do stand-up."

For longtime Murphy fans, it's a toss-up between two very different movie characters: Foley, a wisecracking Detroit detective who can't seem to stay out of trouble, and Akeem Joffer, the affable crown prince of the fictional African nation of Zamunda, who travels to America to find a woman he can marry.

But now that they are each producing long-awaited sequels, which classic Eddie Murphy comedy is better, Coming To America or Beverly Hills Cop

Miley Cyrus is going metal. The "Midnight Sky" pop singer revealed that she's currently recording an album of Metallica covers in a conversation with fashion designer Rick Owen in Interview magazine.

"We’ve been working on a Metallica cover album and I’m here working on that," she told Owen, adding that considers the ability to work during the coronavirus crisis a privilege. "We’re so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this. At first, it felt uninspiring and now I’ve been totally ignited."

The discussion legendary acts continued, with Owens saying that his top three favorite rock stars are David Bowie, Lemmy Kilmister and Iggy Pop, at which point Cyrus said that punk godfather Pop has inspired her on-stage movements.

Miley's past musical performances have featured material from classic rockers, including Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and Billy Idol, among others. In fact, she has also already paid tribute to Metallica with a rendition of 1991 Black Album ballad "Nothing Else Matters."

Meanwhile, the Cranberries recently deemed Cyrus' live version of the 1993 hit "Zombie" one that would the alt-rockers' late frontwoman would enjoy.

Let's see what Cyrus can do with "Master of Puppets."

You know what’s better than $500? A million. And while one solid week of betting with your $500 bankroll won’t get you to that million, as the Chinese philosopher Laozi once said, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step... and hitting on the right parlay.”

If you can’t go to Las Vegas, make Las Vegas come to you. Right now you can get $1,000 in free cash if you join BetOnline today. And that journey to sports betting success can begin.

As always, all odds are available at BetOnline.AG.

Lock of the Week

Let’s be real here. The New York Jets have the worst roster in the NFL. If you took over this franchise on Madden, the first thing you’d do, after firing head coach Adam Gase, is replace every player on the roster with free agents. The Jets are a disaster from top to bottom and not only does the organization need to fire everyone on the coaching staff and in the front office, but they should go ahead and bring in an exorcist to chase off any demons lurking around the facilities. This is the perfect time to do it. It’s Halloween and there’s probably a seasonal discount.

The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, are a good team that’s run into a rough schedule. The Bills have dropped two in a row to some of the NFL’s best (the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs). They’ll be looking to take it out on somebody. And that somebody is the Jets. These two teams already played once this season, with Josh Allen tossing 312 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 57 and a score.

Pick: $250 on the Bills Moneyline at -675 at BetOnline.AG

Teaser of the Week

While a lock moneyline bet might be the best way to protect your money, a teaser is a good way to make money. We’re trying to build a bank here, not finance a trip to Applebee’s.

The Atlanta Falcons come in as -1 favorites over the Detroit Lions after picking up their first victory of the season with interim head coach Raheem Morris. Certainly there’s no better boost you can give your team than loading up a failing coach into the nearest catapult, in this case Dan Quinn, and firing over the castle wall. The Lions, with their own loser in command in Matt Patricia, should probably take note.

There was a chance the Cleveland Browns could really prove to be a contender when they faced the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. But Maury Povich put on his reading glasses, tore open the DNA results and proved once again that Ben Roethlisberger is Baker Mayfield’s father. To the tune of 38-7.

As Mayfield and the Browns offense ran off to go cry on the backstage couch, the Steelers defense held them to just 12 first downs and 220 total yards. As beatdowns go, this was a hard to watch episode of Oz.

But the Browns aren’t bad, in spite of their Brown-iness. And the Falcons remain loaded on offense with an interim coach that’s auditioning for the job. They’re both favored for a reason. So let’s tease 'em.

Like our lock pick, Cleveland and the Cincinnati Bengals have already faced off once, with the Browns winning 35-30 while rushing for 215 yards as a team. Mayfield was 16 of 23 for 219 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. This is a better Browns team, especially on defense. They’re playing one of the worst offensive lines in the sport and rookie quarterback Joe Burrow has already been sacked 24 times in six games. Expect to see Myles Garrett gently spooning him multiple times before this one is over.

Teaser pick: $200 on the Browns at -9.5 and Falcons -7 at BetOnline.AG

Prop Bet of the Week

In spite of their dominating offense and undefeated record, the Tennessee Titans are still sitting at +1800 to win the Super Bowl. You plunk down $40 on that today, you win $720 if they get the job done on Super Bowl Sunday.

If you want to feel really good about it, consider this; coming into this past weekend’s games, Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill was 11-3 in his last 14 starts with a passer rating of 116.7, 3,602 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and six interceptions. Patrick Mohomes in his last 14 starts before Monday night was 11-3 with a 102.3 rating, 3,674 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and six picks.

Tennessee’s QB is playing at an elite, Super Bowl level. On Sunday, Tannehill added 364 yards and four more touchdowns to that total. Toss in Derek Henry and you’ve got a team that could very well raise that Vince Lombardi Trophy in February. No reason for you to miss out on the celebration.

Pick: $40 on the Tennessee Titans to win Super Bowl LV at BetOnline.AG

The Crazy, Longshot, Throwing a Dart Parlay of the Week

You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts. Nothing can pay off for you like a parlay. It’s the betting version of buying a lottery ticket and the payoff can buy you a houseboat.

This week we’re going to throw $10 on the Houston Texans at +165, the Titans at +105, the 49ers at +115, the Cardinals at +160 and the Bears at +210. Houston nearly pulled off the upset at Tennessee last week while their opponents, the Green Bay Packers, barely got off the bus against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The undefeated Titans are hosting the undefeated Steelers in a game that’s basically a coin flip. The Cardinals gave the Seattle Seahawks all they wanted last year (and the Seahawks have to lose sometime) and the last time the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams met up, Chicago held them to just six points. And that was the Rams’ Super Bowl year.

A $10 bet pays $931.40 at BetOnline.AG

<![CDATA[The First Atari-Themed Hotel Is The Ultimate Gamer's Getaway]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=travel/atari-themed-hotel-renderings-revealedhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=travel/atari-themed-hotel-renderings-revealedThu, 22 Oct 2020 11:00:00 GMT

Atari—that goliath of golden age gaming that launched Asteroids, Space Invaders, CentipedePONG, Pitfall, Frogger and Joust—is building on its retro legacy with an upcoming line of video game-themed hotels.

The latest renderings of the ambitious project first announced in January suggest a retro-futurist fever dream straight out of Blade Runner, as the classic 1980s gaming brand partners with GSD Group and architecture firm Gensler to design hotels that blend nostalgic sensibilities with modern technology.

The first Atari hotel is currently set to open in Las Vegas sometime in 2022, while a second hotel is planned for Phoenix, with future locations to follow in Austin, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

The Vegas Atari Hotel will boast in-room gaming consoles, vintage-style arcades featuring virtual and augmented reality tech, an eSports multiplex, a multipurpose gaming arena, and themed restaurants, nightclubs and bars. The property is tentatively planned to have up to 400 rooms, stand 30 stories tall, and will split into separate areas connected by a glass atrium resembling a massive, three-pronged Atari logo.

“We are excited to join GSD Group on this journey to create a completely new kind of immersive experience with the debut of Atari Hotels,” Tom Ito, global hospitality director at Gensler, the architecture and design firm hired by GSD, shared in a statement.

“We assembled a multi-disciplinary design team with experts from hospitality to branding, sports, and digital experience design to develop a dynamic brand that is unmatched in the hospitality industry.”

The Sin City getaway will also feature the "latest in video games — new titles, consoles, hardware, and peripherals" to further appeal to gaming-obsessed guests.

“Like Atari’s legacy in innovation, Atari Hotels is infusing synthetic reality into every aspect of the hotel, creating an immersive hospitality and gaming experience for our guests,” added Shelly Murphy, Managing Partner of GSD Group.

<![CDATA[First Look at Custom Indian Challenger Racing in the 'King of the Baggers']]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/indian-x-sands-challenger-for-king-of-the-baggershttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/indian-x-sands-challenger-for-king-of-the-baggersWed, 21 Oct 2020 18:55:25 GMT

A Indian Challenger modded by S&S Cycle will race a Harley-Davidson-heavy field of competitors at MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest's first-ever "King of the Baggers" invitational, and Maxim has your exclusive first look at the high-performance build.

Whipping around an 800-plus pound touring bike with a six-gallon fuel tank sounds absolutely insane, especially when considering that Monterey, California's notoriously technical Laguna Seca circuit is the event's locale. Fortunately, decorated veteran racer Tyler O'Hara will be sitting in the Indian's saddle.

“I’m thrilled to not only be racing in the King of the Baggers event, but to be piloting the only Indian Challenger in the field. It’s an incredible opportunity for me, and I expect it will be a ton of fun,” said O’Hara, who holds supersport, supermoto, motorcross and flat track titles.

“The Challenger is a remarkable machine in its stock form, but I know the S&S team will be working its magic to give us the best chance to be successful come race day.”

Straight from the factory, the Challenger's 1,768cc PowerPlus V-Twin cranks out 122 horses and 128 pound-feet of torque. For the last few months, S&S has been working to pump up the output of Indian's most powerful stock engine to a target of 150 hp.

The Viola, Wisconsin-based outfit, which specializes in V-Twin modification, has remained understandably tight-lipped about precise details, but lead project engineer Jeff Bailey previously told Cycle World that they've ported the cylinder heads, installed new cams and built a lightweight exhaust.

The ride height and overall ergonomics have also been tweaked to allow for maximum knee dragging, and they've put the Challenger on a diet to shed 200 pounds.

The S&S-built bike won't be the only Indian competing in King of the Baggers. In addition to 12 custom Harleys, a second Challenger created by SoCal's Roland Sands Design will be piloted by Frankie Garcia of the Indian Motorcycle/RSD Super Hooligan race team.

If you can't catch the King of the Baggers in person, the entire MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest is available to livestream for $9.99. May the best bagger win.

<![CDATA[Exclusive: G-Shock Drops Limited-Edition MR-G Watch Inspired By Samurai Helmets]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/exclusive-first-look-g-shock-limited-edition-mr-g-samuraihttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/exclusive-first-look-g-shock-limited-edition-mr-g-samuraiWed, 21 Oct 2020 12:59:00 GMT

Casio is releasing a new addition today to G-Shock's luxury MR-G line of timepieces—the limited-edition MRGB2000SH-5A Shougeki-Maru, and we’ve got the exclusive first look.

The Shougeki-Maru was inspired by the graceful lines of kabuto helmets traditionally worn by ancient Japanese samurai warriors going into battle. The new MRGB2000SH-5A blends classic samurai toughness and the elegance of the MR-G series. One thing that sets it apart visually is the hand-carved bezel, designed by storied metalsmith Masao Kobayashi, which elegantly renders a classic image of a dragon climbing toward the heavens.

In its overall rugged look and unique color scheme, the MRGB2000SH-5A is an inspired design in which the bezel and band have been finished with the “tetsu sabiji” technique—finished titanium layers of brown and blue ion plating. The resulting look is reminiscent of a rusted steel samurai helmet. It has been accented with deep blue lacing akin to that which bound the samurai warrior’s armor.

In true G-Shock fashion, this isn't just an upscale watch concealing next-level tech. The titanium case and band have been treated with heat to form a one-of-a-kind crystallized pattern that aids in resisting nicks or abrasions.

Via Casio, here are some of the MRGB2000SH-5A tech specs, including sophisticated complications that are quickly becoming standard with G-Shock:

 • A full-time Bluetooth smartphone link to the MR-G Connected app
 • Atomic Timekeeping and automatic time correction via radio signals
 • Self-charging with Tough Solar tech
 • Magnetic Resistance
 • Super Illuminator LED light

The Shougeki-Maru MRGB2000SH-5A retails for $8,000. It will be available come November 2020 at G-SHOCK retailers and via GShock.com

Kith, known for its modern and highly sought-after fashion collabs, just kicked it back to the 1980s with a more nostalgic partnership inspired by a personal anecdote. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, German automaker BMW is reimagined through the sartorial lens of Kith founder Ronnie Fieg.

Fieg’s love for BMW dates back to his childhood, reflecting on his grandfather’s prized 1989 E30 M3 and joyrides around Queens, New York. The designer looks back on these memories fondly, which ultimately inspired this landmark partnership and allowed for one of BMW’s most iconic models to become his creative canvas.

The first reveal of this multifaceted partnership was a complete rebuild of his personal E30 M3 in an impressive one-off creation. The car retains a majority of its original components, with modern updates underscored by the DNA of both brands.

Bespoke Kith for BMW roundel emblems adorn the hood, trunk, rims and steering wheel, while the Kith logo is transformed in a racy “motorsport” font to replace the typical M3 embellishment on the right side of the trunk.

The interior was entirely recrafted with the highest-grade leather sourced by BMW, and features an embossed Kith monogram pattern across the seats and door panels. Every detail was considered down to the screws.

To complement the vehicle, the partnership is rounded out with a 94-piece collection of co-branded threads and accessories, marking Kith’s largest offering to-date. The capsule speaks to the BMW aesthetic from 1989, interwoven with sport and Kith’s knack for modern luxury.

The retailer combined its staple silhouettes and custom-milled fabrics with BMW’s classic color palette and iconography across a range of knitwear, like color-blocked cardigans and intarsia sweaters, kimono blazers and retro nylon track suits.

The standout piece is a cherry red suede bomber with BMW’s “M stripes” splashed across the back, which speaks to its motorsport heritage.

The accessories were truly made for car lovers, with auto-centric items like custom valve caps, microfiber towels, license plate frames, and gear like headwear and driving gloves. You can even purchase a diecast replica of the 1989 E30 M3.

The Kith for BMW collection will be available starting October 23 at Kith retail locations and kith.com, and rumor has it the brands might have another surprise coming soon.

<![CDATA[Meet The 2022 GMC Hummer—a 1,000-HP All-Electric Supertruck]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/2022-gmc-hummer-ev-revealedhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/2022-gmc-hummer-ev-revealedWed, 21 Oct 2020 11:38:05 GMT

The electric designation in the name alone caused a stir when the 2022 Hummer GMC EV was announced in early 2020. Now the gas-guzzler-turned-zero-emission "supertruck" has finally been revealed.

That impressive output of 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque will be generated by three separate motors contained in GM's new Ultium Drive units. A 24-module, double-stacked battery arrangement will offer 350-plus miles of range on a charge. Using 350 kW DC fast chargers, a 100-mile "refuel" takes just 10 minutes.

In comparison to the Hummer's biggest competitor, the Tesla Cybertruck, the battle for core performance specs is close. CNET's Roadshow notes that the Elon Musk's futuristic pickup has a superior range of 500 miles, but the Hummer probably generates more power (though the Cybertruck's output hasn't been announced). Both also have similarly quick zero-to-60 mph times—2.9 seconds for the Tesla and 3 seconds flat for the GMC.

But the Hummer offers a combination of things that aren't present in any production truck, the Tesla included. Increased structural rigidity made possible by the Ultium units have made open-air driving possible via a a standard Infinity Roof and stowable transparent Sky Panels.

A "CrabWalk" feature allows the rear and front wheels wrapped in 35-inch tires to steer at the same angle at low speeds, enabling diagonal movement of the vehicle while navigating tricky terrain. An Extract Mode further increases off-road capability by raising the body 6 inches. GM says that the Hummer can scale 18-inch verticals and drive through two feet of water.

Tech wasn't skimped on, either. Key features include an 18-view camera system that can spot obstacles on the armored undercarriage. The latest version of GM's Super Cruise8 driver assistance feature lets you let go of the wheel on more than 200,000 miles of roads, while a 13.4-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch driver information center displays and monitors output, differential locker engagement, tire pressure, pitch and roll angles, torque vectoring and more.

Other key features include the six-position tailgate, a power rear drop glass window and motorized tonneau cover.

All of this and more will come loaded on the range-leading 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, which is priced at $112,595 and should be available in 2021. A similarly-equipped Hummer EV3X priced at $99,999 will arrive in 2022, followed by less expensive future variants in the following years.

Aside from the obvious benefit of being hidden when not in use, the Signature OLED R's bending ability allows for three viewing formats with different dimensions: Full View, Line View and Zero View. The brushed aluminum casing and eye-catching and wool speaker cover by Kvadrat of Denmark are available in Signature Black, Moon Gray, Topaz Blue or Toffee Brown.

As previously reported, key features include 4K UHD resolution, support for all HDR formats, and a 100-watt, Alexa and Google Assistant-supporting speaker.

"This unique TV delivers a differentiated user experience and a new way of thinking about space while once again confirming LG’s leadership in the premium TV market.”

At one point in this new trailer for Kaley Cuoco's The Flight Attendant, a man whispers in her ear as she is sitting in an interview, "You think they know you're lying?"

That man is dead by the time he whispers in the title character's ear, an apparent figment of her imagination, and that gives you some idea of how intriguing this upcoming HBO Max series could be.

Kaley Cuoco in "The Flight Attendant"

From TV Line, here's a breakdown of the series plot, which was based on a bestselling novel with the same title:

Based on Chris Bohjalian’s 2018 novel of the same name and described as “a story of how an entire life can change in one night,” The Flight Attendant follows the Big Bang Theory alum’s titular Cassandra Bowden, who wakes up hungover in a Dubai hotel room… with a dead body next to her, and no idea what happened.

Instead of informing the police, she joins her fellow crew members on a flight to NYC, where she is met by FBI agents with a few questions about her recent layover. Unable to piece together what happened, Cassandra begins to suspect that she might be the killer.

While Cuoco's Cassandra is worried she might be a killer, she also says at one point in the trailer that she's "a crazy, drunk flight attendant—not a killer."

Sounds like the goal of the series is figuring out if that statement is true or not.

The Flight Attendant was also executive-produced by Cuoco. It begins streaming on HBO Max on November 26, 2020.

HBO's Succession is noted for many things, two of them being Emmy-quality scripts and swearing. Like, lots of four-letter words. It's also a juicy portrait of corruption inside a super-wealthy family, and most of them come off badly. The actors, however, like many in Hollywood, are politically involved. So they got together in character to help explain to viewers how important their votes are in the coming November 3rd election.

The cast of "Succession."

There are actually five videos altogether, and they are focused on so-called battleground states, where the race between Dem nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump is very close: Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin, Arizona, and South Carolina.

The first video above features Brian Cox, who plays the head of the family in Succession, Logan Roy, explaining how you register to vote in Wisconsin. The next four feature Cox and other cast members including Peter Friedman, Fisher Stevens, David Rasche, Alan Ruck, and Justine Lipa. The videos are hosted by J. Smith-Cameron, who plays the Roy family attorney, Gerri Kellman, in the series.

In each sketch, they discuss properly voting early and at the polls. The cusswords are all bleeped but it's not a stretch to figure out what's being said.

The remaining videos are below, and in order, they go through procedures in Pennsylvania, Florida, South Carolina, and Arizona.

Election day is November 3rd, 2020. The message from the cast of Succession overall, regardless of political affiliation, is get the fuck out and fucking vote, and make sure you do it right.

<![CDATA[SSC Tuatara Sets Record for World’s Fastest Production Car at 316 MPH]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/ssc-tuatara-sets-speed-recordhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=rides/ssc-tuatara-sets-speed-recordTue, 20 Oct 2020 15:35:41 GMT

The SSC Tuatara has fulfilled promises of record-setting performance by becoming the world's fastest production car.

With British racing driver Oliver Webb at the wheel, the all-American hypercar clocked a speed of 316.11 mph on a seven-mile stretch of highway near Pahrump, Nevada. That figure is the average of two speeds recorded in opposite directions within the same hour to account for road grade and wind: 301.07 mph and 331.5 mph, the highest speed ever achieved on a public road.

In accordance with world speed record criteria, the Tuatara had to be identical to a model that a customer would purchase, wear street tires and run on non-race fuel. Officials were on site to verify Dewetron GPS measurements, which tracked the speed runs using an average of 15 satellites.

The Tuatara is powered by SSC's own twin-turbocharged 5.9-liter V8 producing an incredible 1,750 hp when fueled with E85 and 1,350 hp while running on 91 octane. A CIMA seven-speed transmission capable of sub-100 millisecond shift transfers the output to the rear wheels.

This isn't the Richland, Washington-based exotic car maker's first record. Car and Driver notes that the SCC Ultimate Aero previously hit 256.18 mph in 2007, usurping the Bugatti Veyron. Speaking of, the Tuatara also bested the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, which became the first production vehicle to break the 300-mph in 2019.

“It’s been ten years since we held this record with our first car, the Ultimate Aero, and the Tuatara is leagues ahead. Its performance reflects the dedication and focus with which we pursued this achievement,” said SCC CEO Jerod Shelby.

“We came pretty close to meeting the theoretical numbers, which is astonishing to do in a real world setting on a public road. America’s new claim to victory in the ‘land-based space race’ is going to be tough to beat.”

King James; Bugs Bunny

The supposed plot of LeBron James' long-awaited Space Jam: A New Legacy has hit Twitter, and it sounds even more bonkers than the 1996 original starring Michael Jordan and a cast of classic Looney Tunes cartoon characters.

A synopsis for the film that was shared on Twitter by Hollywood writer/director Ben Mekler, who is not attached to the film, but claimed he obtained it from an email about a test screening for Space Jam: A New Legacy, adding: "The synopsis for SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY is certifiably bananas and I for one cannot wait to see it."

The shared screenshot of the beyond-looney synopsis reads:

“During a trip to the Warner Bros. studio, NBA Superstar LeBron James and his son accidentally get trapped within a world that contains all of Warner Bros.’ stories and characters, under the control of a malfunctioning, all-powerful force named Al G (played by Don Cheadle).

"With the help of Bugs Bunny, LeBron must navigate through a never-before-imagined world filled with iconic movie scenes and characters as they re-assemble the Looney Tunes to rescue his lost son. Now to get back home, Lebron and the Tunes have to unravel Al G’s mysterious plan and win an epic basketball game against digital gamified super-versions of the NBA and WNBA‘s biggest stars as the entire world watches.”

Joining Cheadle and James will be Ceyair J. Wright as LeBron's son Bronny James, Sonequa Martin-Green as Savannah James and NBA and WNBA players Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Kyle Kuzma, Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike. Malcolm D. Lee is directing the sequel while Black Panther helmer Ryan Coogler, Duncan Henderson, Maverick Carter and LeBron James will produce.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is set to premiere on July 16, 2021.

<![CDATA[The Shinola Ice Monster is a Titanium Dive Watch Inspired by Ancient Glaciers]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/shinola-ice-monster-watchhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/shinola-ice-monster-watchTue, 20 Oct 2020 11:00:00 GMT

From the icy depths of the glaciers that formed the state of Michigan and shaped the region’s frigid winters comes the latest addition to your watch collection: The Shinola Ice Monster. It’s a beastly launch from the Detroit watchmaker and it’s here just in time to power your fall and winter adventures.

Made from ultra-lightweight and highly durable titanium, designed to resist corrosion from chlorine and sea water, this watch is the brand’s lightest and toughest to date. It joins a growing family of Shinola watches that any lover of rugged, functional-yet-stylish timepieces can appreciate.

The timepiece retails for an investment-level $1,675, and it demands to be worn as often as possible (dare we say … on the daily?).

Featuring a nicely sized 43mm case diameter, the white enamel dial is as crisp and clean as a layer of snow atop the icy, frozen depths of Lake Michigan in winter. If it reminds you of frigid winters where only the toughest gear has a chance of making it through (fellow Michigan brand Carhartt comes to mind), well, that’s precisely the point.

Rated to 30 ATM (300 meters), this tough-as-nails watch works in multiple seasons, as Shinola intended. The turning dive bezel makes this a watch that’s truly intended for off-grid adventures. And yet, it should look mighty stylish when worn this holiday season with a shawl cardigan, a chambray shirt and crisp blue denim. Talk about a perfect watch for a perfect seasonal style move, right?

Lest you thought the buck stopped there, Shinola went the extra mile putting together this new launch. It’s made to be displayed in packaging reminiscent of a steel tackle box, and it comes complete with a special-edition photography booklet from Detroit photographer Amy Sacka, known for capturing the icy desolation and extreme beauty of Michigan’s famously fierce winters. And yet, ice seasons are shrinking, and Sacka’s work calls attention to this critical issue, too.

This is an effort to be appreciated and enjoyed, and the Ice Monster is an exceptional watch that will remind you to take your adventures deeper than ever before. Invest in the best and reap the rewards — we can vouch for Shinola.

Star Wars' most famous Wookie is the latest character to get an Adidas sneaker in the the German sportswear brand's ongoing 40th anniversary celebration of The Empire Strikes Back.

Like the Ultraboost "Yoda" and Top Ten Hi "Boba Fett," the Rivalry Hi "Chewbacca" basketball shoe is loaded with elements inspired by its namesake. The leather upper is literally brimming with strands of light brown synthetic hair, while the laces are crossed with a plastic piece resembling Chewy's ammo bandolier.

A lithograph-like portrait of the towering intergalactic warrior appears on the front of the tongue, the backside of which is stitched with a label commemorating the first Star Wars sequel. The sci-fi franchise's text logo is also split between each shoe with metal pieces placed on the laces closest to the toe. Beneath all of the nods to the movie is tri-tone "Raw Desert/Mesa/Chalk White" colorway and a rubber cupsole designed to provide flexibility.

Every Empire Strikes Back Adidas sneaker has been over the top—the Boba Fett-themed Top Ten Hi came with an attached pouch like the one equipped on the bounty hunter's utility belt, and the Yoda-inspired Ultraboost prominently featured Luke Skywalker's mystical green teacher wielding a light saber on the tongue. But with its abundance of fake Wookie fur, the Rivalry Hi "Chewbacca" is probably the collection's most extreme kick yet.

Presented in a collectible shoebox with a limited-edition poster and lace jewels, the Adidas x Chewbacca sneakers hit Adidas' website for $150 on October 22.

The first Jim Beam release to bare the name of the Clermont, Kentucky-based bourbon maker's eight-generation master distiller, Fred Noe, will be available exclusively in global travel retailers.

The top-shelf expression, dubbed Lineage, first began finishing in charred white oak barrels in 2004. After 15 years of aging, the small-batch spirit was bottled at 110-proof (55-percent ABV). Tasting notes detail a profile of spice, vanilla and caramel that's suited to neat or on-the-rocks serving suggestions. A decorative, leather-handled wooden box features a serialized brass plaque with a brief description of the whiskey within.

"Lineage represents a significant moment in the history of Jim Beam. Not only is it a collaboration between the seventh and eighth generation of distillers in our family, but it’s a blend of the past, the present and the future," Noe said in a statement.

“Having spent a lot of time exploring travel retail outlets in my time, it was important to me to offer something special to travelers – especially during these trying times. Launching a product exclusively to travel retail is not something we often do, so we are excited to bring such a unique expression to our friends in airports across the world.”

At $250, Lineage represents the most refined bottle by far in Jim Beam's lineup, which ranges from the standard Kentucky straight bourbon to higher-end offerings like Black Extra-Aged and Single Barrel editions. Look for Jim Beam Lineage on airport shop shelves in early 2021.

Gooding & Company's upcoming Geared Online October auction will feature an iconic Mercedes-Benz classic alongside a slew of 70s supercars and a handful of rare Ferraris

We are of course talking about the 300 SL Gullwing, the unmistakable Formula One-bred German coupe that once held the distinction of being the world's fastest road-going vehicle. While the production version made those distinctive gullwing-style doors famous, Mercedes-Benz first adopted the design on the racing version three years earlier to save weight. Those would win titles at the Nurburgring, Carrera Panamericana and Le Mans throughout 1952 before 1,400 production coupes were manufactured from 1954 to 1957.

This example, a 1957 model year finished in silver over a green leather interior, underwent a 10-month body-off restoration at the hands of SoCal-based 300 SL specialist Jerry Hjeltness.

“Our restoration shop has just completed a full body-off restoration/remanufacture process on the above referenced automobile to a 100 point show standard," he told Gooding & Company. "The car has been completely disassembled. Every component was renewed, restored or replaced to new or better condition.”

Upon completion, the car was shown at the Le Cercle Concours in California, where it won Best of Show. While the 300SL Gullwing could fetch up to $1.3 million, another 1950s-era exotic is expected to sell for even more at Geared Online October.

A 1956 Maserati A6G/54 Spider valued at $2-$2.75 million is also hitting the block. The first of just nine examples finished by legendary Italian coachbuilder Pietro Frua, this vehicle in particular possesses several features not seen on any subsequent model years, such an aluminum dashboard that's painted in the body color and a uniquely trimmed instrument panel.

These are a couple Geared Online October's priciest offerings, but an assortment of more attainable retro rides and automobilia include a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible valued at $35,000, a 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible valued at $70,000, and a set of magazines from a Ferrari Cavallino event valued at $1,500. Even though Bruce Willis is now 65, he's still not above some Die Hard-style shenanigans. At least in the name of selling batteries.

Willis has returned to his iconic role as beleaguered but heroic cop John McClane in a new commercial for DieHard car batteries. And McClane is still getting in trouble and escaping through airshafts.

Willis's daughter Rumer shared the spot via Twitter, posting the video with the hashtag "#DieHardIsBack."

The spot is nearly two minutes long and starts out like the original movie in that it's just a regular guy with the prosaic problem of a dead battery. Only that guy is Willis as McClane. So as soon as it is clear his battery is gone, bad guys show up and chaos ensues, leading to McClane crashing through the front of an Advance Auto Parts, where he tells the clerk he needs a battery and escape route.

Willis in 1988's "Die Hard."

She indicates the airshafts are the best way out and Willis delivers a very McClane-like "C'mon, are you kidding me?" before the camera cuts to him inside the shaft with his new battery.

Other Die Hard actors appear as well, and it almost seems like those who conceived the spot tried to make sure it stayed in canon with the movies. Clarence Gilyard plays the villain and he was the only one of Hans Gruber's (Alan Rickman) toadies to survive in the first film.

And the whole thing is canon, really, since it contains Die Hard signatures like explosions and escapes and plot twists.

The commercial naturally led to questions regarding a full-length movie return for John McClane, despite Willis's age (in his defense, he does look like he's still capable of handling the work). While there were plans in place for a prequel as recently as 2019, Disney's purchase of Fox followed by the novel coronavirus's devastating impact on the entire industry beginning in early 2020 have apparently put a true return for the character who made "Yippee ki-yay, motherfucker" an iconic rallying cry on hold.

Winter is coming, though, and people will definitely be looking for new car batteries. Advance Auto Parts and John McClane have you covered.

<![CDATA[TAG Heuer Updates Carrera Sport Chronograph With Stylish Special Edition]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/tag-heuer-carrera-sport-chronograph-160-years-special-editionhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=style/tag-heuer-carrera-sport-chronograph-160-years-special-editionMon, 19 Oct 2020 11:00:00 GMT

The hits, as you might say, keep on coming for TAG Heuer, as the famed luxury watchmaker just debuted a new special edition of the TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph to celebrate 160 years of precision timekeeping.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph 160 Years Special Edition is available with a white or blue dial.

The lauded watch company introduced new Carrera Sport Chronograph models earlier this summer, but this forthcoming launch gives watch enthusiasts and TAG Heuer fans yet another reason to get excited (make some space in that watch collection, everyone).

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph 160 Years Special Edition, available starting next month, draws inspiration from the company’s storied archives: In this instance, the new model (available in both a white and a blue dial in handsome stainless steel construction) is based off the Heuer “Dato 45.” First debuted in 1965, this timepiece is quite notable in the Heuer line, as it was the first Heuer chrono to feature a turning date disc.

The Carrera Sport Chronograph 160 Years puts its own spin on the brand’s many hallmarks, arriving to the anniversary celebration with a 44mm case diameter and featuring a date window at the 12 o’clock marking. It’s a distinctive, unique move the brand said was inspired by the Dato 45.

Limited to 1,860 pieces in an homage to the illustrious anniversary, this is a timepiece worth investing in (it’s priced at $5,950, after all) -- call it a seriously worthwhile addition to your watch rotation. It’s sporty and yet easily wearable, particularly the sleek blue dial with two contrasting white chronographs built in (along with a seconds counter positioned at the 6 o’clock marking in a crisp, matching blue).

Super-LumiNova coated markings make this a watch to be reckoned with in plenty of situations outside of its impressive collector’s box. In fact, the coolest part might be something you don’t actually see at first glance.

We’re talking, of course, about the Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement, which results in a thinner, sleeker watch design overall. It’s a fitting update to the brand’s flagship Carrera watch, which has been a staple in the TAG Heuer line since its introduction in 1963.

If that sounds like your idea of the perfect watch, better pre-order this seriously limited timepiece now. We know it’s on our wish list.

Stunning former Maxim cover model Ashley Graham has spent much of her career putting out one very strong message to women: Love who you are, how you are

She kept that theme going recently when she posted a breathtaking post-shower nude selfie on Instagram.

The witty and outspoken model simply captioned the shot "Nakie big girl," and needless to say, she received an outpouring of positive responses from fans.

Most fans, that is. One person took issue with Graham's word choice and she handled it with thoughtful patience. The fan said that she hated "that this is seen as ‘big girl’ I see nothing but a beautiful, naturally curvy woman in all her glory ….. super sexy and womanly."

Graham's response? "I hear what you’re saying. But if you look at ‘big’ as a positive or love then you can see it like I do. I love my big strong beautiful body. Love you girlie."

That's a class act.

Ashley Graham just returned to modeling after having a baby. A few more selections below from her Insta show why we're glad she's back.

<![CDATA['Quartship' Episode 9: Contestant Wins Over Crush Elizabeth Gullickson With Mad Video Skills]]>https://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/quartship-ep-9-video-wins-elizabeth-gullicksonhttps://waterlifeaquatics.my/?big=entertainment/quartship-ep-9-video-wins-elizabeth-gullicksonMon, 19 Oct 2020 10:05:00 GMT
Elizabeth Gullickson; Danny Evans

Quartship's 9th episode streamed on Thursday, October 15th, and featured Crush Elizabeth Gullickson (@lizzgullickson), a former Miss Black Minnesota from St. Paul.

Lizz—who won Miss Congeniality in the 2014 pageant as well—is currently a marketing consultant, model, and actress. She co-directs the Frank Adams 5K Walk/Run in honor of her late father and is also the co-founder for the K.I.D.S. Empowerment summer camp held in Minnesota.

Clockwise from top: Lizz Gullickson, Shavon Smith, De'Corio Milton, Danny Evans, host Jeff Watkins.

Our three Contestants to win a date with online crush Lizz were U.S. veteran and cinematographer Shavon Smith (@shavongiovanni), entrepreneur and actor De’Corio Milton (@decoriotheactor), and digital marketer and creative director Danny Evans (@billionairedanny).

Shavon was up first in the Approach phase when contestants make their play for the Crush's attention. He presented a short video of himself weightlifting in the gym to show that he's a hard worker. Shavon followed that with a virtual “golden ticket” that he loaded with perks. Lizz gave him a 7.0.

Next up was De’Corio. In his own video, he shared his vision of being Lizz’s new bae, but he tied with Shavon with another 7.0.

Danny cleverly created a skit based on one of Lizz’s very own acting reels found on her Youtube channel. He smoothly edited in footage of himself with her on a date. Danny's creativity, cleverness, and skill earned him a 9.3, making him the runaway winner.

Episode 9 was not without surprises: Danny, who is also an actor and director from Atlanta, confessed at the end that he had actually met Lizz some time ago during a photoshoot. Everyone was excited about Danny’s new opportunity to connect with Lizz.

Danny's skills with video were no surprise, given he has been an entrepreneur for 10 years with his eyes fixed on success in the movie industry.

Quartship is broadcast live weekly across Maxim’s Youtube and Facebook channels. Tune in to the next episode streaming on Thursday at 9 pm EST for more good vibes, fun, and a chance to witness old school charm live with a new lineup of talented contestants on Quartship!
